Anyone who dares to treat you as if you are just like everyone, while telling you how much they love you, doesn’t really understand what it means to be in love at all. True love, the deepest love, comes in the form of treating your beloved like they’re infinitely spectacular because you believe, or rather you know they are infinitely spectacular, without question.You aren’t ordinary. Not one single drop of you. Not the way you think, the way you talk, the way you walk into a room, the way you laugh, or even the way you brush your teeth every morning. You’re one of a kind.

There has never been a YOU before and when you are gone from this life, there will never be another YOU again. Yes, there will be people similar to you: People who will share your name, maybe have the same shaped nose, or those who can do an equally impressive Kristen Wiig impression, but similarities don’t mean much. Similarities don’t compare to individuality. Because you’re so original and, dare I say extraordinary, you should never love anyone who treats you like you’re ordinary. Not even for a second.

And in turn, when someone loves you, all the amazing parts about you that keep you from being even remotely close to being like anyone else also become visible. You’re exposed when you love and are loved, and all those quirks and idiosyncrasies — the good stuff — shine brightly. In such a light, how could anyone possibly be ordinary?
This is something we should strive for in our relationships. We should strive to love and be loved in a way that would give the most romantic love stories of all time a run for their money. Jay Gatsby didn’t treat Daisy like she was ordinary, Noah didn’t treat Allie like she was ordinary, and if we want to throw in one of the top-grossing films of all time, Jack Dawson sure has hell didn’t treat Rose like she was ordinary. Because she wasn’t.
Maybe to the rest of those people in the first class part of the ship she was ordinary and no different from the rest of them, but when someone loves you — really loves you — you stop being ordinary, especially to them.
